2023 Rio Rapids Alumni Colleges Graphic

New Mexico Rapids SC is proud to announce that 70 of its alumni (34 women and 36 men) were a part of 48 college soccer programs throughout the country during the Fall of 2025.

Seven of these players were a part of teams that earned trips to the national tournament.  Tessa Updegraff (06/05 GA) was a starter for the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) team that reached the NAIA National Championship semifinals.  Alex Waggoner (04 ECNL) was a starter for the University of Portland (OR) team that reached the NCAA Division 1 Elite Eight.  Tenzing Manske (04 ECNL) started in goal for the Georgetown University (DC) team that reached the NCAA Division 1 Quarterfinals.  Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) was a starter for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs team that reached the NCAA Division 2 Sweet Sixteen. Marcus Garcia (03 ECNL) was a part of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs team that reached the NCAA Division 2 3rd Round. Players on teams advancing to the 2nd round of the national tournament in NCAA Division 1 were:  Aidan Semelsberger (03 ECNL) a starter at the University of Denver (CO) and Brendan Baird (04/03 ECNL) at Southern Methodist University (TX).

Twelve players helped their teams win conference championships:  Morgan Arsenault (07/06 EA) on the Hope College (MI) team that won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular season title.  Brendan Baird (04/03 ECNL) on the University of Southern Methodist University (TX) team that won the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament title.  Marcus Garcia (03 ECNL) on the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs team that won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.  Jaime Landavazo (06/05 GA) on the University of Mount Saint Vincent (NY) team that won the Skyline Conference regular season title.  Tenzing Manske (04 ECNL) on the Georgetown University (DC) team that won the Big East Conference regular season and tournament titles.  Razi Naouali (07/06 ECNL) on the Western Connecticut State University team that won the Little East Conference regular season title.  Aidan Semelsberger (03 ECNL) on the University of Denver (CO) team that won the Summit League regular season and tournament titles.  Javier Trujillo (06 ECNL) on the University of Mount Saint Vincent (NY) team that won the Skyline Conference regular season title.  Tessa Updegraff (06/05 GA) on the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) team that won the Great Southwest Athletic Conference regular season title.  Cole Bachuzewiski (05 ECNL), Chase Ricker (06 ECNL) and Malcolm Starr (05 ECNL) on the University of Evansville (IL) team that won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title.  

Many of these players received individual honors for their outstanding play.  Two players received regional recognition:  Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA)) at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs – United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division 2 All-South Central Region 2nd Team / Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-South Central Region 2nd Team / All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 1st Team, and Tenzing Manske (04 ECNL) at Georgetown University (DC) – United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division 1 All-Region 2nd Team / All-Big East Conference 3rd Team.

Five additional players were selected to their all-conference teams:  Taylor Rogers (04 ECNL) at Utah Tech University named All-Western Athletic Conference 1st Team, Tessa Updegraff (06/05 GA) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) named All-Great Southwest Athletic Conference 1st Team, Aidan Semelsberger (03 ECNL) at the University of Denver (CO) named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team & All-Summit League Honorable Mention, Campbell Pacheco (05/04 GA) at DeSales University (PA) named All-Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Honorable Mention and  Colette Tena (04/03G) at Adams State University (CO) named All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honorable Mention.

Miles Merritt (04 ECNL) at Michigan State University, Taylor Rogers (04 ECNL) at Utah Tech University and Javier Trujillo (06 ECNL) at the University of Mount Saint Vincent (NY) led their teams in scoring while Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) was the 2nd leading scorer at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs

Eleven players were recognized for their outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the field.  Three earned national honors:  Aidan Semelsberger (03 ECNL) at the University of Denver (CO) – CSC Academic All-America 1st Team / CSC Academic All-District Team / Summit League Academic All-League Team, Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs – United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region Team / Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll and Tessa Updegraff (06/05 GA) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) – NAIA Fall Scholar-Athlete / CSC Academic All-District Team / Great Southwest Athletic Conference Fall Scholar-Athlete.  Kennedy Brown (04/03 GA) at the University of New Mexico, Keegan Davis (04/03 ECNL) at Whitworth University (WA), Tenzing Manske (04 ECNL) at Georgetown University (DC) and Taylor Rogers (04 ECNL) at Utah Tech University were named to CSC Academic All-District Teams.  Alex Waggoner (04 ECNL) at the University of Portland (OR) was named West Coast Conference All-Academic Team Honorable Mention.  The following were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll:   Ava Lowe (05/04 GA) at Western Colorado University, Amber Otts (05/04 GA) at Fort Lewis College (CO) and Colette Tena (04/03G) at Adams State University (CO).
