On the cusp of the 2013-2014 season kickoff, I want to inform you of a significant opportunity that has been afforded our club.

During the late spring of 2013 and this past summer, the Rio SC Board and Coaching Directors have been working with the Colorado Rapids, of Major League Soccer, to determine whether there was a level of compatibility between our 2 organizations and if it made sense to form an alliance. Through this process, we have determined that there is a commonality of purpose and philosophy regarding player and coach development and that an alliance / partnership of our 2 organizations would work.

The opportunities of this alliance will be varied and significant. We welcome the Colorado Rapids organization into this partnership and look forward to working with the Rapids organization.

There is a FAQs document link further down in this email and it will also be distributed via the website that details some answers to potential questions you may have. Please take the time to read.

We will have a formal public announcement taking place on September 9th, 7:30pm at the Simms Center Auditorium on the Campus of the Albuquerque Academy. Rio Rapids SC players and families are invited to this event. In Attendance will be: Executive & Technical Staff from the Colorado Rapids, Albuquerque Mayor Berry, New Mexico Secretary of Economic Development Jon Barela, Rio Rapids SC Board and Coaching Staff, along with Television & New Media.

I hope you view this opportunity with the same level of excitement and anticipation as those of us that have been involved in the development of the relationship with the Rapids.

Good luck this season!!

Best Regards,

Greg Woodhouse
President – Rio Rapids SC
